Westlake Police Wrangle Cows Out Of The Road

A deer in the road, sure?

Geese -- it happens.

But cows?

That's more Dodge City's style than Westlake.

Nevertheless, on Feb. 27, Westlake Police received a complaint of calves playing in traffic on Bassett Road.

Patrolmen and the Animal Control Officer were sent to the area and they bossed the bovines back to their berth nearby.

And, yes, the keeper of the kine has a large enough lot to be allowed to harbor the calves within the city limits, according to Westlake Police.

• An intoxicated 29-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man fell into a pond near First Street at about midnight March 3 after an argument with his girlfriend, according to Westlake Police.

He had run from her car and wasn’t looking where he was going when he fell.

After he came ashore, he texted a friend, who then alerted Westlake Police. He was transported to St. John Medical Center by Westlake firefighters for a checkup, and then was arrested for disorderly conduct.

• On the evening of March 1, an intoxicated 30-year-old North Olmsted man knocked on the door of a home on Walter Road, according to Westlake Police.

He asked the resident for a ride, claiming falsely that he had done yard work there in the past, police said. The resident refused and the suspect left on foot.

He was found near Center Ridge Road and arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
