Westlake Man Receives Calls From People Threatening To Crash His Computer

The man's computer did crash soon thereafter

A man who lives on Brick Mill Run reported that he received five to six threatening phone calls on Wednesday (Feb. 6.)

The man told Westlake police that the callers sounded like men with South Asian or Indian accents. They demanded money and said they would crash his computer if he did not pay.

The victim told police that he thinks the calls came from a support company he used to fix a computer problem.

His computer did crash and he is unable to get satisfaction from the maker or the software provider.

A 27-year-old Cleveland woman was stopped for a traffic violation on Main St. at 7:41 p.m. on Feb. 6.

Inside her car were two bags rigged to defeat retail anti-theft devices, along with clothing and a screwdriver used to remove anti-theft devices, according to Westlake Police.

She was also in possession of prescription drugs for which she had no prescription.

She was arrested charged with receiving stolen property, possession of criminal tools and drug offenses.
