Westlake Man Accused of Borrowing Neighbor' Car, Stealing GPS

A 26-year-old man from Westlake is accused of stealing his neighbor's GPS unit after the same neighbor let him borrow his car to move out on February 13.

The owner gave the suspect a chance to return it or pay for it but the suspect claimed the $139 GPS was not in the car when he used it, according to Westlake Police.

By coincidence, the suspect had been kicked out of his apartment after his roommate's Nintendo Wii and jewelry disappeared, police said.

Other recent thefts being investigated by Westlake Police:

• A $50 gift card was taken from a woman’s unlocked 2000 Honda Accord while it was parked on the night of Feb. 13 in her parking lot on Westford Court.
• A 2008 Land Rover was stolen from a driveway on Balmoral Drive sometime during the night of Feb. 11.
• A 14-year-old Westlake boy's $450 iPhone was taken from an unlocked locker at the Recreation Center between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 10.
