Lakewood Patch

'HAND'gun Incident: A man was taken to Lakewood Hospital after he reportedly shot himself in the hand with a .40-caliber gun in the 13400 block of Harlon Avenue at around 7 p.m. May 24. 

Strongsville Patch

'Weekend at Bernie's' SituationA motorist on I-71 reported May 26 that a passenger in a truck she was following on I-71 looked dead.

The truck exited on Royalton Road, and police stopped the vehicle in front of David's Bridal about 1:30 p.m. 

"Everyone in the vehicle is alive and well," a report said. Dispatchers called the woman back to let her know the passenger was fine.

Cleveland Heights Patch

BuzzFeed Tells Local Bank Robber's Story: Nicolas Walker, a University Heights man convicted of robbing 11 banks in 2011, including two in Cleveland Heights, was featured in a national news outlet Friday.

BuzzFeed contributor Scott Johnson, who has served as a Newsweek bureau chief and has reported on Iraq for years, wrote a piece examining Walker's life before he became one of Ohio's most prolific bank robbers, including his service in the Army in Iraq and, his defense argued in his trial, the ensuing post-traumatic stress disorder that guided his hand.

Mayfield-Hillcrest Patch

Needs a break from newborn babyNewborns can make any parent restless, and a man who took a nap on Maplewood Road was no exception.
A concerned resident called Mayfield Heights Police just after 11 p.m. on May 25 to report that a dark van had been parked on Maplewood for hours and it was clearly occupied. A man who owned the van had been passed out in the van for several hours. He told the responding officer that he recently had a baby and had not been feeling well. He left soon after that conversation.
