Truck Fire Briefly Closes I-90 This Morning

A truck fire early this morning caused a brief closing of I-90 in Westlake.

Nick Pishnery, Westshore Central Dispatch Supervisor, said 911 received a call from the truck’s driver at 4:45 a.m. on May 22 that his cab was on fire.

“He was outside he cab and there were no injuries,” Pishnery said.

Pishnery said when fire departments from Westlake and Rocky River responded, the cab was fully engulfed.

“We have no idea what the cause is right now,” Pishnery said.

Westlake Police Capt. Guy turner said the truck was in the westbound lane near the Clague exit. I-90 westbound was briefly closed while firefighters attended to the vehicle. At  7:44 a.m. the burned out truck was towed away and the road was completely re-opened.
