Teen Crashes Car after Hit-Skip, Chainsaw Thief and More Crime

Teen Crashes Car After Hit-Skip

A 19-year-old Middleburg Heights man hit a utility poll after a hit-skip at about 8:15 p.m. April 11. A witness followed the man to a business on Westwood Road near Center Ridge Road. The man then hit a utility poll and disabled his car in the parking lot while trying to hide near a grassy area behind the business.

Police cited the man for hit-skip and assured clear distance for the first crash, and failure to control and another hit-skip for the second crash. He was also cited for possession of marijuana, underage possession of alcohol for four cans of beer found in his car and certain acts prohibited for a fake driver's license showing him old enough to drink.

Man Steals, Then Returns Chainsaws

A Sperry Drive company reported that an employee had stole two chainsaws worth $1,400 at about 2:30 p.m. April 10. The 42-year-old Cleveland man had already returned one of the chainsaws valued at $600. Police arrested the man for two counts of petty theft. After he was released from jail, he returned the other chainsaw.

Teenage Girls Fight Behind Detroit Road Store

Police got a tip about a fight planned between a 13-year-old North Ridgeville girl and a 14-year-old Avon Lake girl behind a Detroit Road store on April 13. Officers broke up the fight over insults between the two girls at about 7:45 p.m. Both girls will be filed on for disorderly conduct.
