Tax Return Filed with Westlake Man’s Name, Texas Address

The following information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

That’s not the right address

A Westlake man received a letter from the IRS on Jan. 4, asking if he had moved to Texas.

He hadn’t.

It turns out that someone had filed a 2012 tax return using his name and a Dallas address. After a follow-up call with the IRS, he was asked to make a police report. He filed one on Jan. 23.

Missing money

An Ashbourne Drive woman realized that her purse and more than $2,000 worth of cash and gift cards had been taken on Jan. 24. She thinks the theft happened earlier that month, and thought it might be someone she hires to clean the house, according to information from the police. The investigation is ongoing.

Missing iPhone

A Cleveland woman reported that her iPhone had been taken from her jacket while she was at a Detroit Road restaurant for a seminar on Jan. 24. It was worth about $700.

I think Enterprise was going to move there, since BMW is moving to where Enterprise is.
