Police Looking For Theft Suspect

Westlake police are on the lookout for a woman suspected of stealing a purse and coat from a car parked at on Columbia Road.

A 31-year-old Elyria woman had left her car keys in an unlocked locker at the gym while she was working out on Dec. 27. The keys were taken, and used to unlock her car.

One of the woman's credit cards was used at the North Olmsted Walmart later that day, said Westlake Police Cpt. Guy Turner in a release. Security cameras caught the woman charging about $416 to the card at the store.

The suspect is a heavy-set black woman with short hair, seen wearing the victim's coat in the security footage, Turner said.

The victim is also missing $200 in cash and some personal papers. She told police that she saw the suspect inside of Bally's before she found that her keys had been stolen.
