Police Blotter: Stolen Equipment and Cell Phone Fraud

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Equipment Stolen From Painting Company Vans

A painting business on Canterbury Road found that six of the company’s vans had been forcibly entered on the night of Nov. 4. Three paint sprayers, ladders, tools, extension cords and a drill, all valued at $3,700, were taken. Police have no suspects.

Softball Equiment Stolen on Detroit Road

A 15-year-old Parma Heights girl reported her softball equipment stolen at about 1:30 p.m. Nov. 5. The girl had been attended a team meeting and set down her bag. When she came back, her bats, glove and catcher's gear, valued at $600, was gone. Police have no suspects.

Cell Phone Account Fraud

A Westlake man came to the at about 3 p.m. Nov. 5, saying that someone had activated numerous cell phones on his AT&T and Verizon accounts. There were $574 on his AT&T account, and $580 on his Verizon account. The transactions took place in Illinois on Oct. 18, but the victim didn't find out until his statements came in th email. Both companies are aware of the situation, and the victim alerted all three credit bureaus to place fraud alerts on his accounts.
