Police Blotter: Shoplifter Punches Two, Gun and Jewelry Stolen from Home

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Boy Punches Two People in Shoplifting Incident

A 16-year-old Westlake boy punched a Detroit Road drug store customer and an employee in the face after shoplifting at about 1:30 p.m. Aug. 7. The boy had stolen $6 worth of merchandise and punched the customer as he ran. He punched the employee after she caught him outside. The boy then dropped his backpack with the stolen goods and a switchblade inside. Police arrested him and he was taken to the Cuyahoga County Detention Home where he will be charged with aggravated robbery.

Police are investigating the burglary of a Clague Road home while the family was out of town. The owners returned to find their sunroom door had been forced open when they got back at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7. Jewelry and a 7.62mm rifle were missing. A neighbor said he saw a white van with “heating and air conditioning” or HVAC on the sides in the home’s driveway on Aug. 6 or 7.

Fender, Music Equipment Stolen from Man's Car

A North Bay Drive man reported his musical equipment, worth at least $1950, had been stolen from his car some time between 2 and 9:25 a.m. Aug. 3. The rear left window of the car was broken and a Fender bass guitar, amps, speakers, microphones and floor processors were missing. Police have no suspects.
