Police Blotter: Officers Respond To Reports of Asteroids, Domestic Violence and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Westlake police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Sky Is (Not) Falling

A Hilliard Boulevard resident reported seeing an asteroid at about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The resident told police that there was a flash, followed by a loud explosion. Responding fficers didn’t find any asteroids, crashed UFOs or alien life forms in the area.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of domestic violence after she threw shoes and a coat hanger at her 16-year-old sister at their Canterbury Road home at about 6 p.m. May 23. Police chased the woman on foot and, after she was caught, she told officers that her sister threw soda on her. The 16-year-old had a welt on her side. Police notified Children’s Services and a temporary protection order was issued against the woman. The suspect was released Tuesday.

Police arrested a 32-year-old Westlake man at about 10:15 p.m. May 23 at his Center Ridge Road home after his 32-year-old wife reported that he had hit her the night before, bruising her back and left arm. A temporary protection order was issued that requires the man to live somewhere else.

Broken Car Window

A Westhill Boulevard resident reported the passenger side rear window of his Honda Civic broken at about 8:50 a.m. Tuesday. The owner had parked it in his garage and last saw in unharmed at 10 p.m. the night before. Police have no suspects.

Teenager To Be Charged For Hitting Dad, Having Drug Paraphernalia

Police arrested a 17-year-old Westlake boy at his Detroit Road home about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The boy’s father had tried to stop him from taking a guitar from the apartment and the two got into a fight. The father had minor cuts on his left hand. Officers removed containers with marijuana residue from the boy’s bedroom. Police will file on the boy for domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Home.

Police Turn Three Men Over To Border Patrol After Traffic Stop

Police arrested three men ages 19, 22 and 34 on suspicion that they are in the country illegally at about 8 a.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop on Dover Center Road. Officers turned the three suspects over to Border Control and released a fourth man to his employer at the scene.

Man Steals From Bradley Road Business

An alarm brought officers to Bradley Road at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday. The glass in the front door was broken. Two checks and $180 in cash were taken. Security footage shows that a man in a hooded sweatshirt and jeans spent about one minute inside the building.
