Police Blotter: Man Skips Out On Bar Tab, Passes Out In Yard

Man Walks Out Bar Tab, Found Later By Police In Yard

A 33-year-old Westlake man ran up a $243 bar tab, and then skipped out on the bill at about 1:30 a.m. Oct. 24. Police found the man in a yard on Dover Center Road and arrested him for theft and disorderly conduct intoxicated. The man also gave police a fake name and birth date, which led to another charge of misidentification.

A 20-year-old Westlake woman reported an Internet scam on Oct. 24 after she tried for several weeks to buy a teacup Yorkshire Terrier from a seller in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The woman sent the seller $410 via Western Union in mid-September, but then the man told her there was no room on the airplane to ship the dog and asked for more money. The woman sent another $390 the next week, but the seller then asked for $1,450 more. She refused to send more money and has not heard from the seller since Sept. 22. The woman has hired an attorney and police continue to investigate.

Woman’s Purse Stolen During Bridal Shower

A woman attending a bridal shower at a Detroit Road restaurant had her purse stolen between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Oct. 23. The purse is valued at $150, and contained her debit cards, checkbooks and miscellaneous papers. The woman cancelled her debit cards before they were used.

Copper Wire Cut Out Of Home for Sale

A realtor found that copper wire had been cut out of a basement on Clague Road between Oct. 14 and 24. Police found no signs of forced entry and have no suspects.
