Police Blotter: Man Pulls Pistol on Neighbor and Her Dog

Dog Chases Cat into Man's Backyard; Man Pulls Gun

Police arrested a 70-year-old Parsons Pond Circle man for aggravated menacing after he pointed a Ruger .380 semiautomatic pistol at a neighbor and her dog at about 1 p.m. Sept. 28. The dog had run into the man’s yard, chasing his cat. The dog knocked over a patio table, and the man then went and got his gun while the dog’s owner, a 29-year-old woman, tried to grab the dog’s leash. The suspect gave himself up to officers peacefully when they arrived. Police seized the handgun and several other firearms from the man’s home. After a mental evaluation and a protection order issuance, he was released from City Jail on Friday.

Shoplifter Gives Up the Chase

Staff at the spotted a shoplifter at about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 26. The 51-year-old Parma man ran from authorities, dropping bags with $109 worth of items inside. He eventually gave up and security walked him back to the store. Police charged him with petty theft and released him later that evening.

Man Discovers Identity Theft

A Westlake man called police Wednesday when he discovered that 10 lines of credit had been opened in his name at auto dealerships, banks, financing companies and other institutions. The identity theft started back in March. The man has been working with the three major credit bureaus to clear these lines from his credit records. Police have no suspects.

Man's Car Stolen, Found in Parking Lot

A Westlake man’s 2002 Dodge Stratus went missing at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. The callers told police that it was taken from a Detroit Road apartment after a 21-year-old North Olmsted man stole the keys. At about 11:30 p.m. a man believed to be the North Olmsted man called and told the car owner’s son that the car was in a parking lot on Columbia Road. Police found the car in the lot and took it to the for processing. Officers are continuing to investigate.
