Police Blotter: Joy Ride Busted, Burglary and More

The following arrest information was provided by the Westlake Police Department.

Burglary on Clague Road

A home on Clague Road was burglarized between 10 a.m. and noon Oct. 18. Police believe the suspect came through a bedroom window. Between $400 and $500 was taken, and three strongboxes were rifled through. The homeowner is checking to see if anything else is missing. Police have no suspects.

Police Find Stolen Devices in Car

Police arrested two 18-year-old Bay Village men after they were seen trying car doors on Cedarwood Drive at about 11:45 p.m. Officers recovered several GPS units and radar detectors, a cell phone, a DVD player, a camera and a can of beer from their car. The cell phone was traced to a Westlake woman who had reported it stolen out of her car the previous night. Both men face charges of receiving stolen property, attempted theft from auto, underage possession of alcohol and possession of criminal tools for the car, flashlight and punching a window. Police may file more charges if the other owners of the recovered property can be identified. Police released both men from the later that day.

Over $800 Stolen from Coat

A Detroit Road restaurant employee reported $810 cash missing from a coat hanging in a back room at about 7:30 p.m.  All restaurant employees at the restaurant emptied their pockets when police arrived, but the missing money was not found. Officers are investigating.
