Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft

Information was provided by Westlake police.

Attempted burglary

A Carnation Run man heard noises downstairs on Aug. 10 at 10:49 p.m. He saw a flashlight outside a kitchen window and yelled out. The unknown suspect fled, but had already forced open the window, said. A neighbor reported hearing noises outside an hour earlier, but did not see anyone when he went to check.

 Theft

A $4,000 computer was stolen from a guest’s room at the Holiday Inn on Aug. 11 between 6:15 and 10:15 p.m. There are no suspects. 

Violation of protection order, open container

Staff at a Main Street bar reported that 3 patrons were pouring their own alcohol into their drinks on Aug. 11 at 11:15 p.m. A 33-year-old Lorain man was arrested for carrying various weapons (a knife) and for violating a protection order. He was in the company of a 32-year-old Lorain woman whom he is prohibited from being around; she was cited for an open container. The third subject was sent on his way.

Burglary 

• A foreclosed home on Schwartz Road was found heavily damaged on Aug. 12 by the new owner. It was in good condition when he checked it on Aug. 8. Unknown persons forced open the rear door and took the microwave, shelves, furniture, and a Jacuzzi; countertops and cabinets were also damaged. A neighbor saw a moving van in the driveway on the night of August 10. 

• A vacationing Pineview Drive couple found their home burgled on Aug. 12 at 7:21 p.m. They had been gone for two days; in their absence unknown persons forced open a window. The victims are compiling a list of stolen items; neighbors reported seeing an unfamiliar white 4-door or SUV parked in front of the residence on the night of Aug. 10.
