Police Blotter: Boy Fights With Police, Stolen Motorcycle And More

Boy fights with police, spits on officers and firefighters

A 17-year-old runaway Westlake boy is facing a laundry list of charges after fighting with police on Detroit Road. Officers were responding to a fight between the boy and the residents of an apartment complex at about 5 p.m. June 8 when they attempted to arrest the boy. The boy gave a fake name and fought with police while being handcuffed. Once inside the police cruiser, the boy kicked the rear windows and damagad a door, then threatened to shoot up the police station and kill the arresting officer, along with his family.

Police took the boy to Fairview General Hospital where he was treated by the Westlake Fire Department for an existing infection. Medical staff sedated the boy after he spat at firefighters and attempted to head-butt an officer. The next day, officials took him to the Detention Home to face charges of disorderly conduct, misidentification, resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, vandalism and menacing.

Argument leads to arrests for domestic violence

Police arrested a 46-year-old Westlake woman and a 40-year-old Westlake man for fighting at their home on Hedgewood Avenue at about 4 a.m. June 9. The woman accused the man of hitting her in the face and the man accused the woman of threatening him with a knife. The man had a minor cut on his left hand which he said was from wrestling the knife away from the woman.

The man has been convicted of domestic violence in the past, and was charged with a felony and turned over to the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's office that day. Poilce released the woman on June 10 and issued a protection order.

 Motorcycle stolen from apartment garage

An orange/black 2008 Honda CVR motorcycle was stolen from a Detroit Rd. apartment complex’s multi-unit garage between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 9. It is valued at $10,000. Police have no suspects and found no signs of forced entry.  

 Copper plumbing taken from vacant rental home

The owner of a vacant rental home on Clague Road found that someone had forced the rear door open and taken copper plumbing some time in the three weeks before June 11.

Man tries to steal beer by hiding it in a soda package

A 24-year-old Mississippi man tried to steal beer from the on Crocker Road at about 2:30 a.m. June 12. Since it was after the legal carryout sales hours, the suspect hid the beer in a 12-pack of pop. The clerk knew what was going on and took the 12-pack away. Police arrested the suspect for disorderly conduct intoxicated and attempted theft, and took him to jail.
