Police Blotter: Auto Body Worker Admits To Stealing Sticker From Totaled Car

Auto Shop Worker Admits to Taking License Plate Stickers from Totaled Car

A 22-year-old Cleveland body shop worker admitted to stealing the validation sticker off of a crashed car after an officer stopped him on Interstate 90 West at about 1:45 p.m. Oct. 13.

The officer found that the plates on the man’s Buick Regal had a 2012 validation sticker, but BMV records showed that the plates were expired. The officer then found out that the sticker belonged on a Cleveland Heights man’s Honda.

The Cleveland man told the Westlake officer that the BMV had sent him the wrong sticker.

Police called the Cleveland Heights man and found that his car had been totaled after a crash, and that the validation sticker was missing from the plates.

Upon investigating, police found that the Cleveland man works at the same auto body shop that the totaled car was taken after the crash. Police will get a warrant for receiving stolen property for the Cleveland man. He admitted the theft to police, and blamed it on his financial setbacks.

Basement Window Broken on Hummingbird Circle

Some time between Oct. 12 and 14, a basement window was broken out at a Hummingbird Circle home. The owner was away at the time. No one got into the house and police have no suspects.

Boy Breaks Window on West Preston Place

A boy threw a rock through a neighbor’s window on West Preston Place during a party at about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 14. The boy’s father and the homeowner agreed to settle the matter without police involvement.

Lakewood Country Club Hit With Graffiti

A employee discovered that the tennis building had been spray painted with red and green graffiti at about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10. Police have no suspects.
