Police Blotter: A Bad Case of Road Rage, Shoplifting and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Westlake police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Shoplifting at Marc’s

Marc’s security detained a 60-year-old Avon Lake man for stealing $97 worth of merchandise at about 5:30 p.m. June 28. The man had pushed his cart out of the store without stopping at the cash register. He faces charges of theft and trespass. He was released later that day.

Car Windows Broken Overnight

A Westwood Road resident heard a thump outside of her home at about 4 a.m. June 29. When she went outside at 9 a.m., she found that the windows on her two Hondas were broken, probably by a piece of concrete found inside one of the care.The damage is estimated at $750. Police have no suspects.

Break-in on West Hedgewood Drive

Four watches and a ring were taken from a West Hedgewood Drive home some time between 5 and 6 p.m. June 26. The suspect broke a bathroom window after trying two other windows. Police have no suspects.

Driver Hits Car in Road Rage Incident

The driver of a Ford Explorer hit a Honda Civic and threatened the people inside in a road rage incident at about 3 p.m. June 27. The 34-year-old Avon man drivivng the Ford passed the Honda, and the driver and passenger, both 21-year-old North Ridgeville men, made obscene gestures. Police identified the driver of the Ford and arrested him at his home. He faces charges of assault, menacing, hit-ski and improper lane use.

GPS Unit Taken from Car

A $400 GPS unit was stolen from a Northfield woman’s Ford Taurus while parked at St. John Medical Center on June 27. The passenger window had been broken out.

Police Catch Three Lakewood Residents With Stolen Property

A patrolman stopped three Lakewood residents ages 19, 18 and 17 on bicycle and found stolen a stolen iPod in the 18-year-old’s backpack. Police arrested the three boys and charged them with receiving stolen property at about 5 a.m. June 28. Both adults were released later that day. The 17-year-old was turned over to his mohter’s boyfriend.

Man Tries To Steal Beer from Gas Station

A white man in his 20s with short brown hair tried to steal an 18-pack of beer from BP at about 2 a.m. June 29. The clerk chased the suspect and he dropped the beer. He was last seen getting into a black Honda that fled the scene.
