Expensive Headphones Lifted, an Eviction Gets Ugly

Information was provided by the Westlake Police Department.

Theft

A 64-year-old Cleveland man stole a $279 set of headphones from a Crocker Park Boulevard store on Aug. 16 at 1:48 p.m., police said. A suspect was located at Crocker and Detroit Roads and arrested on charges of petty theft. He also had active warrants from Parma and Cleveland Heights police departments.

A Marview Drive apartment house owner reported extensive damage to a unit on Aug. 17. The female tenant had been evicted on July 26. Damage was done to carpets and walls, closet and cupboard doors were broken or missing, wiring was cut, and smoke/carbon monoxide detectors missing. The former tenant was contacted and claimed that some of the damage had occurred prior to her moving in. The city prosecutor will review the matter for possible criminal damage or vandalism charges.

A Detroit Road woman’s apartment was entered through an open window after the screen was removed on Aug. 17 between 5:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. Numerous DVDs and jewelry were taken. The victim will attempt to determine a value for the losses.
