The 46-year-old mother, whom police found passed out in the garage, claimed that her daughter-in-law charged her, and she defended herself. She said the fight then moved outside, where her son choked her, and she bit him to defend herself.
The son, 28, told police that his mother pulled his wife's hair, and that she bit him when he tried to break the two up. The couple had been preparing to move out after arguments over the last week.
Police released the woman on bond March 30. The son has a prior domestic violence conviction, making this offense a felony. He was transferred to the Cuyahoga County Jail.
