Dad Accused of Assaulting Daughter, Friend

Family drama took a violent turn at an Adelaide Street home, resulting in a man's arrest.

A 20-year-old woman who lives there had a 21-year-old male friend over to visit the night of July 30, even though he is not allowed to be there. Another women who lives in the home told the young woman's father.

He fired a single shot from a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun at the young man, then pistol-whipped him with the gun. The young man fled the house and called .

After the young man fled, the father then turned on his daughter, beating her with the gun and kicking her as well.

The young man was taken to St. John Medical Center for injuries to his left ear. The daughter refused treatment.

The father is being charged with felonious assault, domestic violence, and tampering with evidence for allegedly hiding the spent shell casing from when he fired the gun.
