Blown Transformer Causes Power Outage

About 6,000 in Westlake and Bay Village were without power for several hours Tuesday night.

Parts of Westlake and Bay Village went dark Tuesday night when a transformer blew at a Westlake substation around 9 p.m.

According to a spokesperson for the Illuminating Co., about 6,000 customers in Westlake and Bay Village were affected. Crews went to work Tuesday night to transfer the load between other local substations.

Crews will also start working to fix the blown transformer, but that will take at least a day's work.
