POLL: Regal Cinemas in Westlake Will Have Greater Police Presence

Will you still go to the movies this weekend? Take our poll and tell us what you think.

The overnight shootings in Aurora, Colo., at a premiere of the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises will mean extra police at this weekend.

"We will make sure our presence is very visible," said captain Guy Turner Friday morning.

Capt. Turner said major premieres like The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers earlier this year always bring extra security to Regal Cinema, which hires off-duty Westlake police officers for security.

On-duty police will also be patrolling the theater and the surrounding area, Capt. Turner said.

"I was there early this morning, and people were having a good time," Capt. Turner said. "Obviously, they didn't know what was going on in Colorado. I saw several Batmans, some Jokers, a Riddler, and several girls doing their own thing like Batman in a tutu. I hope this doesn't change people's plans to go see and enjoy the movie. Just remember, if you see something, say something."

And cities want to cut police and fire budgets? 1st responders are the people who run into danger when others run from it. Kudos Westlake, bring in as many police as you can so that we can live the way we are accustomed to. Fearless and Free!

I'm not against the increased police presence (unless they start searching people or something), but to say that an increased police presence allows you to live "fearless and free" seems to be counterintuitive. If you were fearless, you would not need the police presence. It may be semantics though.
