A Supposed Jewelry Theft Takes a Strange Turn

The following information was provided by the Westlake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Westlake woman had an unusual plan to pay for some jewelry she supposedly took on Nov. 26.

The 41-year-old woman was stopped at about 6:39 p.m. after allegedly taking about $81 worth of watches and jewelry from the gift shop at the Westlake Porter Public Library. She didn’t have any money on her, but she said that she planned to use the library’s Internet to apply for a loan.

She was arrested for petty theft and disorderly conduct-intoxication.
