Take A Shopping Break At 87 West

A wine bar in the middle of a shopping center— what’s not to like? in Crocker Park at 287 Crocker Park Blvd. is like an oasis after a day of shopping.

The wine bar features a menu of wines by the bottle and by the glass. In addition to the wines, 87 West offers a variety of small plates, appetizers to share, flatbreads and desserts.  My friend and I headed out on a weekday evening and were able to grab seats at one of the comfortable nooks. A fireplace and cozy seating make 87 West comfortable and welcoming.

We started with Taco Tots which are essentially nachos with tater tots – and were fantastic! Often times loaded tots don’t stand up to the toppings, but these were just crispy enough to hold the chorizo queso and peppers that made them so tasty.

For dinner, my friend had a chicken quesadilla and while I had the Ahi & Avocado Tartar. They were extremely accommodating with my requests for customizations— something that I belive demonstrates the true character of a restaurant.

My friend’s quesadilla full of cheese although she would have liked more chicken and enjoyed the crème fraiche as an alternative to sour cream. The Ahi & Avocado Tartar was light and flavorful— tasted like summer.

The service was relaxed, just like the atmosphere and we will definitely be returning next time we need a break from shopping.

Located in the center of Crocker Park Blvd, 87 West is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m. A large patio is available during the warmer months.
