Thomas F. Slowey, 88, Acted With Bette Davis

Thomas F. "Tom" Slowey, 88, of Westlake, a longtime Cleveland actor, died June 19.

He was born May 4, 1924, in Cleveland to the late Martin and Anna Slowey.

His 67-year theatrical career included many of the top theaters in Northeast Ohio such as the Hanna Theatre, Cleveland Play House, Lakewood Little Theater (now Beck Center for the Performing Arts), Huntington Playhouse, and Chagrin Valley Little Theatre.

He appeared in many popular plays over the years, including One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, That Championship Season, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Inherit the Wind, Of Mice and Men and A Thousand Clowns.

As a member of AFTRA, he appeared with Bette Davis in the 1978 miniseries The Dark Secret of Harvest Home. He also had a guest spot on the television series Route 66.

Slowey also appeared in industrial films and print commercials for companies such as Goodyear, Cleveland Trust and SOHIO. He also worked for several years in the Sidewalk Department for the City of Cleveland.

He is survived by his wife Mary (McElroy) Georgeff, whom he met while appearing in A Thousand Clowns where she was a prop girl. They were married in 1977.

The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, 3602 Bridge Ave., Cleveland.
