Martin Rini, 68, Restaurant Manager, Volunteer

Memorial services will be held Saturday.

Martin P. Rini, Jr., longtime restaurant manager and bartender, died after a short battle with cancer Jan. 15.

In the 1970s and 80s, Rini served bar for politicians, judges, professional athletes, celebrities and even priests at the Blue Fox restaurant. Later, he worked at Executive Caterers before running the Cedar Street Cafe on the East Side. Before retiring, he was the beverage manager for the Oakwood Country Club in Cleveland Heights.

Rini was an active volunteer for e, and a great cook whose spaghetti sauce was famous among his friends and family.

He was born in Cleveland, and was one of three children of Martin and Helen Rini. His brother David, was a part-time Hollywood actor and agent before he died in 1992. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Phyllis, and his sister Jacquie.

Rini was the father of Martin P. Rini III and Gina Marie O'Shea (Michael); stepfather of Chuck Patty, Jr. and Jennifer Hatchett (Travis); grandfather of Rosemary, Michael, Emily, Patrick, Chase and Helen; brother of Jacquie Schmidt (Dr. Robert) and the late David. Uncle and godfather of Michelle Snyder (Jack) and Matthew Gundic (Chrissy); uncle of Linda Lydrickson (Gary), Kristen Mavis (Alan), Amy Kunde (Eric); and cousin of many.

Waking hours are 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at

Busch Funeral & Crematory Services in Fairview Park, with a service following at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contribution be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110 or , 38135 Colorado Avenue, Avon, Ohio 44011.
