Gertrude "Trudy" MacNiven: Death Notice

Gertrude “Trudy” Maria MacNiven (Nee Carlson) of Westlake passed away on June 11. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick. Dear mother of Ronald MacNiven (deceased) (Betty), Lois Olson (Marv-deceased), Marilyn Sawyers (Robert-deceased) and Janice MacNiven. Loving grandmother of Paula MacNiven- Malone, Marvin Lee Olson, Craig MacNiven, Karen Olson-Pintenich, Steven Sawyers, Jill MacNiven, Lynn Sawyers-Olson and Trudy Sawyers-Woods. Great grandmother of 16 and great, great-grandmother of four. 

Trudy was born on May 20, 1915 in Santa Rosa, FL. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester, MA in 1933. She sang in the Sibelius Chorus (Swedish/Finnish choir) in Massachusetts along with her mother, father, three brothers and husband. 

She moved to Ohio in 1942, began attending the Dover Congregational Church in 1947 and joined in 1960. 

She was employed at the Higbee Department Store for 28 ½ years in the china and glass department. She was a member of the Westlake Dance Club from 1949-1980 and collected for the Heart Fund, Cancer and Leukemia fund. Trudy was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and sang in the Dover Congregational Church Choir for 28 years.

Services were held last week in Westlake.
