Carl E. Jensen, 91, World War II Veteran

Jensen worked for Sheffield/Sheffield Lake School District

Carl E. Jensen, 91, of Westlake died August 5.

He was born Lakewood on May 20, 1921, to the late Charles and Kersten (Krogh) Jensen and grew up in Avon.

After graduating from Avon High School in 1939, he served during World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers.

Jensen retired in 1984 from the Sheffield/Sheffield Lake School District, where he had been custodian at Knollwood Elementary School.

Jensen is survived by his wife of 27 years, Edna (Beunk); son Barry (Sandra) Jensen; grandchildren Creighton and Madelon; and stepchildren Janet Tischer, Ken Standen, and Roger Standen.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and first wife June (Barr) Jensen; daughter Pam Jensen; second wife Barbara DunLavey Jensen; and sisters Alice (Cloyd) Pierce and Elsie (Eugene) Wiswell.

Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 11, at . A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 12, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain.
