Westlake Officer Returns From Duty, Receives a Hero's Welcome

Westlake Ptl. Jason Dancy received a hero's welcome--literally--when he returned home from Afghanistan Oct. 11.

Dancy is a captain in the Ohio National Guard and was sent to Afghanistan in April.

His wife, Jill, teamed up with  Brandy Bright of Unite This City to surprise Dancy's three sons, Nate, Ryan and Jackson.

The boys were told they were going to meet some superheroes at the Westlake Police Department; after a bit, dad showed himself to complete the happy reunion that included Captain America, the Hulk, Superwoman and other superheroes.

"I’m really excited to be home," Jason Dancy told our media partners at Channel 5.

"This little guy here, he just loves superheroes and both of them they just think the world of daddy and what he's been doing," Jill Dancy said.

When asked who his all-time favorite superhero is, Nate answered "daddy."

"To come back and hear that I guess it kind of validates what we are doing and what kind of example we're trying to give our kids," Jason Dancy said.

Dancy will return to patrol duties with the Westlake Police Department on Nov. 1.
