Donate Blood, Get Two Free Cleveland Browns Tickets

Anyone who donates blood to the American Red Cross this Saturday in Avon will receive two upper-level tickets to a Cleveland Browns preseason game in August.

The Avon Donor Center, 2100 Center Street is one of 14 Greater Cleveland locations participating in the Red Cross' annual Cleveland Browns Blood Drive, and the closest to Westlake. 

The event will run 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27. 

All registered donors of the Cleveland Browns Blood Drive will receive two upper level tickets to a Browns preseason game in August 2013, a commemorative T-shirt and the chance to win Browns memorabilia (while supplies last).

The drive comes at a vital time for the American Red Cross. The organization recently issued an emergency request for blood and platelet donors after donations were down approximately 10 percent in June, resulting in about 50,000 fewer donations than expected.

“We are counting on generous volunteer blood and platelet donors to step up and give now,” Christy Sabaka, Communications Program Manager for the Red Cross Northern Ohio Blood Services Region said in a press release. “Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Each day donations come up short, less blood is available for these patients in need.”

Each day, the American Red Cross Northern Ohio Blood Services Region needs about 1,000 donors to step forward and give blood. Eligible donors with types O negative, B negative and A negative blood are especially encouraged to give.

The Annual Cleveland Browns Blood Drive will be held simultaneously at 14 sites in northeast Ohio. Appointments are strongly encouraged.
