Mayor Clough Proclaims Oct. 19 PTA Membership Recruiting Day

Mayor Clough presents The Westlake Council of PTAs with a proclamation.

At yesterday's Westlake Council of PTA General meeting, Mayor Dennis Clough presented the PTA with a proclamation making today October 19, 2011 PTA Membership Recruiting Day in the city.

In his proclamation he acknowledged just how important parent involvement in the schools not only benefit the children and district but the city as a whole. Following his presentation Mayor Clough presented Westlake Council of PTA's President Chris Sutcliffe with the proclamation.

The PTA is an important partner in the education and support of our children and schools. PTA provides funds for teachers' wish lists, sponsor programs such as COSI, author visits as well as purchase items for their schools, Hilliard Elementary PTA just purchased a poster maker for their school, this will help with the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Program, which is going to play a huge role in what our children will be learning in the coming years.

So if you are a parent with a child or children attending any of the schools here in Westlake and have not done so already, please consider joining the PTA. It is a rewarding experience, and a wonderful way to help support your children's education and an active role in their school environment.
