Share Your Memories of Bill Robishaw

How did the Westlake historian, teacher, author and volunteer touch your life?

Bill Robishaw touched the lives of many Westlake residents over the years, even long after he retired to Florida.

He was the first principal of Holly Lane Elementary School, a longtime president of the Westlake Historical Society, a veteran and an author.

Robishaw even has a holiday, Bill Robishaw Day, dedicated to him on Oct. 22.

"William Robishaw was not only an accomplished historian in Westlake but was a great educator who was admired by all those he touched throughout his life," said Mayor Dennis Clough. "He demonstrated a great passion for the people of Westlake and we were glad that he was such a great part of Westlake’s history and for his many contributions along the way."

Joyce Able Schroth, director of the city community services department, said that Robishaw was an inspiration.

"I just love that man," she said. "He was just a wonderfulman, and a great source of wisdom. I've always respected people that love local history and he really did. Bill had a vision which was this is my history; it’s our history."
