Emilie Krause, a resident at , celebrated her 105th birthday on Thursday surrounded by family, fellow residents, and staff.

Grandson Anthony Pariano came down from Ann Arbor, Mich., and brought his sons, Joe and Nick, to see their great-grandmother, who goes by Oma, the German name for Grandma.
Pariano said his grandmother's strong will, love for her family and an appetite for life has brought her this far.
He also gave credit to his mom, Juanita. Krause has been at Brighton Gardens since 2007, and Juanita Pariano comes to see her just about every day.
"She takes good care of Oma, and keeps her as engaged as she can," he said.
