State Fair, Ice-Skating, and Chicago the Musical

Take a road trip to Columbus for the State Fair, go on a mini-vacation at Whiskey Island, flash backwards to the Jazz Age with the musical Chicago, attend a jam session with Battle of the Bands, or time machine to winter by ice-skating!

This week has some of the best events of summer, like the State Fair, live music on Whiskey Island, and the musical Chicago performed by the Lorain Community Music Theater. Public ice skating is a great alternative to ice cream or the beach and Battle of the Bands at the library could be a fun family diversion. Get outside and partake in all of the unique things going on this week!

Why go: When you climb into your 100-degree car, you just wish it were winter already. It has been incredibly hot outside so beat the heat by ice-skating! Winterhurst Arena hosts public ice-skating most days of the week. And this can be a fun place for a family outing or a romantic date! Ice-skating is a nice way to cool off without going to the pool.

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

CHICAGO

OHIO STATE FAIR

Where/When: Columbus/ Wednesday through Aug. 7

Why go: The state fair in Columbus isn’t too bad of a drive, about two and a half hours, and it’s full of events, games, music, food, competitions, entertainment, and rides. The fair will have livestock, arts and crafts, and even concerts. Brad Paisley will be performing on the last day! But the state fair is packed full of events every day, not just the opening and closing days. Dogs, horses, pigs, and rabbits will all be competing as well. This fair is definitely worth the drive!
