Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Opens in Westlake

29,000-sq.-ft. center offers dodge ball, 'SkyRobics'

The kids are bouncing off the walls. Literally.

For that matter, so are some of the adults.

At Sky Zone, which opens July 21 in Westlake, no one will be sitting quietly. That's the point.

“We went to Columbus and that’s where the first franchise is,” owner Kristin Kemper said. “My children were there and they loved it. They were sweating head to toe and slept the whole way home.”

Kemper secured a loan and broke ground last October on a new facility on Viking Parkway.

The main area of Sky Zone is a 64-square grid of trampolines surrounded on three sides by walls that are also trampoline material. The setup allow patrons to bounce from one square to the other (if the grids are not all taken) or stay in one square, bouncing or doing flips. Those in squares near the edge can take advantage of the “side trampolines” and literally bounce or flip off of a wall. Waivers are required.

The center also has a dodge ball area that’s a favorite among Sky Zone visitors, a party room, trampoline basketball areas and a large foam pit that visitors can flip into. Dodgeball tournaments are being planned.

Expected soon: SkyRobic classes which Kemper said can burn up to 1,000 calories an hour.

Kemper is also planning on weekend junior high and senior high nights that will include food and drink.

“It will give them something to do, keep them out of trouble,” she said.

The center had a soft opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on July 17, with Mayor Dennis Clough and members of Kemper’s family performing the ribbon-cutting honors.

The center also has food and drink and offers multiple day passes and will host birthday parties and corporate events.

Visitors must wear “sky” shoes, provided by the center.

Pricing starts at $10 for 30 minutes, and increases with half hour intervals. Event pricing, private court rental and packages are available at the Westake Sky Zone’s website at www.skyzone.com/westlake.
