Running on Sunshine for Youth Challenge Race Day

With high temps and sunny skies, the 26th annual 5K fundraiser was, yet again, a success as over 350 people competed in and supported the popular event.

Dave Hardman would be proud. 

Each year, the  is dedicated to the memory of Hardman who was a board member and longtime supporter of the organization, which is now celebratiing its 35th anniversary. 

Saturday morning, over 350 participants, volunteers, staff and friends came together at  for the 5K race and the 1 mile fun run/walk.

Bill Whitmore, the overall winner, had a time of 16 minutes 19 seconds, and was eager to claim his trophy at the end of the event. 

But the real winners were the 30 children with physical disabilities who participated in the fun run. They braved the heat and were met with smiles and rounds of applause by attendees as they crossed the finish line on Clemens Road.

The money raised will be used to run 's many programs and camps where children with disabilities can play sports, enjoy outdoor activties and create lasting friendships.
