Mitchell’s Tavern Will Be a Hot Summer Hangout

Summertime at on Center Ridge Road means volleyball. The bar and restaurant has two sand volleyball courts and leagues every night except Saturday.  

With a big patio overlooking the courts, Mitchell’s will be a hot spot for fun on summer nights when the warm air beckons diners outside.

 My friend and I arrived in the midst of volleyball games and were surprised to see how full the parking lot was for a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was just as full – probably because it was too cool to sit outside. We grabbed a table that had just been cleared.

The server came over and cleaned off the table and took our drink orders. We each got a soda and perused the extensive menu. As usual, I started with potato skins. They were good, and while they weren't amazing, they were my favorite thing. My friend started with a chicken and dumpling soup that looked tasty and that she said was pretty good.

For dinner, my friend had an open face tuna melt that looked delicious. She was surprised by how big it was and enjoyed the fact that it was open-face. I had a barbeque burger with two types of cheese. The sauce was good, but I found the burger to be lacking. The fries, however, were coated in a slightly spicy seasoning that made them go fast.

The service was slow, but friendly– one of the servers told us it was her first day. However the portions were big and prices were reasonable

All in all, Mitchell’s Tavern isn’t a place I’d go to just for the food – I’d go for the great patio, some drinks and to play volleyball. Several teams are still seeking players and post those requests on the Mitchell’s Tavern website.
