Giant Eagle Issues Recall On Cucumbers

Cucumbers bought prior to May 17 may contain salmonella.

has issued a recall for cucumbers due to a possible salmonella contamination.

A Westlake store employee said the recall is for any cucumber with the PLU number 4062 bought prior to May 17. To see if your cucumbers are affected, check your reciept. You can return them to the store for a full refund. 

Salmonella causes diarrhea, fever and cramps 12 hours to three days after coming into contact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The symptoms last four to seven days and are usually managable, but some people struggle with dehydration. On occassion, the infection will spread to the blood stream and require antibiotics, said the CDC.
