Mayor Clough lauds new neighborhood hardware store in town

went for something that required more than scissors, as Westlake mayor Dennis Clough cut a chain to open Westlake's newest store at 27255 Detroit Road.

"It's great to have a neighborhood hardware store in town," Clough said. "We need something like this, especially people like me who don't like to go into a big store and search and search and search for something."

The former site of a store has everything from Benjamin Moore paints to Craftsman lawn mowers.

Ace employs 12 people in the Westlake store. Eight were new hires and four came from owner E&H Hardware Group's store in Rocky River.

Ace regional director Jerry Lewis said he was glad to have Ace in Westlake.

"We had been talking with the folks at for a long time," he said. "We knew there was a need here. This is a good community that we felt would support a business like this."

The location of the store will also help, Lewis said.

"We're right between Crocker Park and Rocky River, with easy access to Bay Village, on a well-traveled road," he said. "And the size of the store allows us to have good product selection."
