New Lee Burneson Middle School Debuts to Public

Welcome, the new version of the Lee Burneson Middle School. As volunteers passed out ice cream floats July 30, impressed visitors toured the new building which included shiny new classrooms, music rooms, a gym and cafeteria stood ready to welcome back students next month.

Ground on the new school was broken in 2011. 

The school will be home to almost 650 students in grades seven and eight. Forty classrooms, including six dedicated to science and two to foreign language are in the “academic core” area represented in two mirror image sides of the building located on the south side of the school.

Administrative offices are in the northeast portion of the building.

The building also features an 8,500-sq.-ft gymnasium, two music room (one which is 1800-sq.-ft.), a 3,346-sq-ft dining area, an almost 2,600-sq.-ft. media center and central bathroom with extra-wide openings.

Two computer labs are fully stocked. Eight classes are dedicated to special education.
