Students Win Congressional Art Contest

Several Westlake students honored

Six Westlake High School students won honors in the 2012 10thCongressional District Art Contest.

The competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” showcases the artistic talents of high school students around the country. Grand prize winners have their artwork hung in the U.S. Capitol, along with pieces from students around the country, for one year.

Daniel Dobish won first place in Drawing. His piece will hang in the Office of the Speaker of the House for one year.

Wan Kwok earned a second place in Drawing. Abby Salem won second place in Photography. Alexandra Melendez got third place in Photo Illustration. Grace Galvin and Stephanie Maciag both won Honorable Mentions in Photo Illustration.

Rachel Vick of Bay High School was the grand prize winner. She and her parents will be flown to Washington, D.C., to attend the June 20 festivities.
