Get Out: Tree Lighting, Bicentennial Clock and More

There are lots of fun events for kids, adults, and even pets this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and the weekend is almost here! Check out some of our picks for events to hit on your time off.

Join the holiday celebration at on Saturday. The entertainment starts at 4 p.m. with local schools and community groups. Ryan Humbert will take the stage at 7 p.m. with some upbeat seasonal songs before Santa flips the switch to light up the 50-foot tree at 7:30 p.m.  The ceremony ends with a special holiday fireworks show.

After the tree is all lit up, explore the festival, snap a photo with Santa, take a ride on the Holiday Express Train or visit the Holiday Boutique.

Fifth-graders are invited to the for a lock-in with pizza, drinks, and late night fun on Friday.

The doors open at 8:30 p.m., then there will be a lock-in until 10:30 p.m. The gym and pool will be open for games.

All participants must stay at the Rec Center until 10:30 p.m. This event is open to all Rec Center members and all fifth-graders who live in Westlake or go to school in Westlake.

The cost is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

The city will be hosting a dedication ceremony for the at 11 a.m. Saturday at .

The new clock, recently installed in front of City Hall, was funded by residents, donors, and local organizations including the Westlake Historical Society, the Lions Club and the Lakewood Elks Club.

Come watch a piece of Westlake history as the historical society closes a time capsule at 6 p.m. at City Hall. The ceremony will also include the dedication of National Historic Registry plaques and proclamations for the and the Lilly/Weston House.

Take your pup down to for a photo with Santa between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday. Photo packages are available with holiday cards! This event is popular, so reservations are recommended by calling 216-539-8226.
