Find out what you need to know about grilling, sunscreen and more before the big Memorial Day weekend!

1) Music in the Park kicks off the season at . Recording artist Maria Jacobs will be playing jazz and R&B from 6-8:30 p.m. on the Sunset Stage. Sixties cover band the PopTarts will be playing the best of 60’s girl groups 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Vine Stage!

2) just got in a shipment of Alaskan wild salmon, but it will only be around for a limited time. According to Giant Eagle public relations, the fish comes from the Copper River and is usually in stores from mid-May to mid-June. Check out some great recipes, including maple mustard glazed salmon and sautéed salmon with blueberry balsamic glaze if you get sick of barbecue this weekend!

3) Today is Sunscreen Protection Day. Remember, SPF stands for sun protection factor and The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends using at least SPF 15. The foundation also recommends reapplying every two hours, but don't use sunscreen that's more than 2 years old because the active ingredients won't work, the foundation says.

4) The National Weather Service is predicting a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. The skies should be mostly cloudy with a high of 62. Experts are expecting less than a tenth of an inch of rain, pending any big thunderstorms. Tomorrow night will be a little cooler with a low of 53 degrees and clouds.

5) The United States Dept. of Agriculture has lowered the cooking temperature of whole cuts of pork from 160 degrees Farenhieght to 145 degrees just in time for grilling season. Be careful though, the USDA says that ground pork must still be cooked to 160 degrees.
