Westlake Women’s Club Adding Gaming to Annual Fundraiser

Event at Panini's will include blackjack, craps, roulette and Bingo.

They’ve been around for more than 50 years, but the Westlake Women’s Club has remained an active part of the community and you can support the group on April 13. But you need to hurry, tickets need to be reserved by April 5.

The Westlake Women’s Club’s Annual Spring Fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 13 from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. at Panini’s Bar and Grill.

Gaming has been added this year, so attendees can try their luck at Bingo, blackjack, roulette and craps for a chance to win in the basket raffle.

The Westlake Women's Club, founded in 1957, currently has about 30 women.

Their support of local organizations is far flung and over the years the non-profit organization has supported the Far West Center, Matthew's Lending Library, Meals on Wheels-Westlake, North Coast Ministry, Providence House, Relay for Life, Westlake Service and Assistance Center, Youth Challenge, Lakeshore Day Camp, Westlake police and fire departments, Safety Town, Parent Connection, Westlake Porter Library and more.

The group also awards scholarships to local high school seniors.

“Our largest project is The Basket of Treasures Craft Show, which the Westlake Women's Club has been doing for over 20 years that takes place in November,” member Sarah Pechaitis said.

In addition to the upcoming Annual Spring Fundraiser, other events include the Over 90's Luncheon, on April 29. 

“The event, sponsored by the city and organized by the Westlake Women’s Club for more than 25 years, honors and recognizes seniors age 90 and older with a special lunch and a proclamation from Mayor Dennis Clough,” Pechaitis said.

Last year the groups held its spring Fundraiser at The Copper Cup, but this year its adding the gaming component.

“We always have had fabulous donations of gift baskets that participants can win and this year is no exception,” Pechaitis said.

Panini’s is located at 23800 Detroit Road in Westlake. The cost for the event is $20 per person for appetizers, dessert, beer and wine.
