The Dover Chalet, once located at 24945 Detroit Rd. in Westlake was known as one of Ohio’s most unique and rustic winery restaurants.
According to ClevelandMemory.org, where this photo is now stored online, 100,000 gallons of wine was aging beneath the restaurant in the establishment's wine cellar, where visitors were welcome.
The Dover Chalet was known for its Hungarian specialties including chicken Paprikash, Hungarian goulash, stuffed cabbage, hearth broiled prime steaks which were cut to order.
The site, which now houses Mahle’s and J.W. Dover had banquet and party facilities available.
This photo is believed to be from the 1970s. The photo was donated by Walter C. Leedy.
