Shooting at The Elzona Tavern: Long Ago Westlake
A shooting in 1939 resulted in this photo being taken. Now archived in the Cleveland Memory Project.
We're guessing most of you don't recall the Elzona Tavern located at 23575 Detroit Rd. in Westlake.
According to Images of America - Westlake, the photo was taken after a man tried to shoot his ex-girlfriend after an argument. A Dover police officer then shot the man, not seriously injuring him.
This photo, credited to Fred Bottomer was taken on March 29, 1939. The photo was donated to the Cleveland Memory Project by Joseph Cole.
