Great Escape: The IX Indoor Amusement Park

Pack up the kids and be prepared to have some fun and make memories any weekend on April at the IX Indoor Amusement Park!

Along with the sprouting crocuses and tiny green buds on the tips of the tree branches, a sure sign of spring in the Cleveland area is that telltale jingle that seems to overtake our TVs:

“It’s here today; not ‘gonna stay— go right away, to the, IX. Indoor. Amusement Park. Gotta get to the, IX. Indoor. Amusement Park!”

The IX Indoor Amusement park has been a temporary fixture in Cleveland culture for 22 years. While it only lasts for one month per year, that familiar theme jingle resonates in the hearts of Cleveland-area residents year round—and so do the memories that this indoor carnival-thrill park provides to local families.  Kids beg their parents to bring them, so why not indulge them and have a little fun yourself?

This year’s park features a live tiger show, petting zoo, midway games (and prizes, of course) and more than 60 rides appropriate for kids aged 2 to 102. New this year is “The Flying Dutchman,” which the IX Indoor Amusement Park describes as “a full-tilt power ride eager to surprise those curious enough to climb aboard.” Classic favorites like The “Freak Out,” “Spinning Coaster” and “Dragon Wagon” (for the little ones) are also still available to thrill and elicit giggles.

The IX Indoor Amusement Park also features a midway full of traditional carnival games and the opportunity to win prizes that the kids will treasure as precious memories for many years to come. All kinds of fair food, from corn dogs to pizza to funnel cakes and cotton candy, is also available, so the whole family can indulge in treats that you might have thought were reserved for the county fair in August.
