5 Things You Need to Know This Week

Free comic books, Mother's Day and the annual Mother-Son dance are coming up!

To get ready for the week, we've rounded up five things you'll want to make sure you don't miss!

Make your reservations soon to take Mom out on her special day and help those in need on Sunday. The Westlake Junior Women's Club and the Community Services Department's Advisory Board are hosting a Mother's Day brunch to support the Westlake Assistance Program at the Westlake Community Center.

The brunch includes quiche, all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, fruit cup, assorted pastries, a Mother's Day dessert, juice, coffee and tea. Price is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. Children under 3 years old eat free.

There are three seating times: 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and noon. Reservations are required by Wednesday. To save a spot, call 440-899-3544.

The American Red Cross will be at from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday. If you're brave enough to get stuck, the Red Cross will give you a gift card to Chipotle and a chance to win a gift basket from . To schedule an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org

Saturday is National Free Comic Book Day and is celebrating by partnering with Astound Comics to give away free comics all day, while supplies last. Comic book artist John DeLucca will be there from 9 a.m. to noon to help kids bring their own superheroes to life.

Dust off your dancing shoes for the annual Mother-Son Mother's Day Dance at from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday. Kids 3-10 years old can dance the night away with mom on the Friday before Mother's Day. Each couple gets a commemorative photo of the special evening. Price is $15 per member couple and $20 per resident couple. Each additional child is $5.

Tri-C's Encore senior adult education program is starting the Cleveland’s Ethnic Foods and Culture program will start its six-week tour of local restaurants at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at .f Spain, Lebanon, Thailand, Mexico, Italy and China, all in the Cleveland area.
