Parkinson's Disease Foundation Presents National Online Seminar on Parkinson's Medication Side Effects on Tuesday, April 8

Expert Information for People Touched by Parkinson’s Disease and Health Professionals

WHAT:  “PD Medications: Managing Side Effects” is the fifth in a series of six interactive online and phone seminars, or PD ExpertBriefings, hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF).  It will cover the common side effects of Parkinson's medications, such as dyskinesia, wearing-off, drowsiness, sleep attacks, hallucinations and impulse control disorders, and provide practical strategies for managing them.  Health care professionals may apply for continuing education credits.

WHO:  The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease.  Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $142 million in research, education and advocacy programs.  This PD ExpertBriefing will be presented by Hubert H. Fernandez, M.D., a Professor of Medicine (Neurology) and the Head of Movement Disorders at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, in Cleveland, OH.

WHY:  As many as one million Americans live with Parkinson's disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder for which there is no cure.  Over time, many people with Parkinson's will experience side effects of medications used to treat the disease, particularly as new medications are added or doses of existing medications are increased.  This PD ExpertBriefing will provide participants with practical strategies for managing side effects.
